Well last Tuesday was a very busy day for me at the Cambridge Buddhist Centre (CBC)…..

a 7.15am meditation with urban retreatants; a women’s study morning on the Perfume of Reality; talk on the Brahma Vihara meditations for the lunchtime drop-in class; then a very nice late lunch at a local cafe with Judith who is my organiser all this week; then a bit of quiet time on my own back in the centre in one of the upstairs study rooms; then some supper with Sunetri across the road in the Burleigh Arms; then a talk-cum-open discussion group on the Hymn to Perfect Wisdom with about a dozen post-three year study course women.

Then I looked out the window and saw it was bucketing down outside so left the bike in the centre and got a lift back to Milton Road from Judith.

It was still bucketing down next morning at 6.15am so rang for a taxi to the Centre. Fortunately for me (and no doubt others!) blue sky had reappeared by the time we’d meditated and had breakfast together. I had a few meditation reviews till 10am and then went back to the cafe I’d been to with Judith yesterday for another of their thick Italian hot chocs.

After that almost non-stop dates with people - including Emma Chopourian (sp?) and Locana - nearly all involving coffee and cakes - then our mid-week urbanites evening. A meditation; a report-in; and a transfer of merits.

I had had a nice evening with Anjali on Monday : supper together and then watched two episodes of “Life in the Freezer” with David Attenborough…. very good. But it has left me still not set up for Thursday night’s talk at the CBC on “Security, Risk and Letting Go” …. not good!! But probably OK by tomorrow night as I’ve done something on this subject before and I have had a few thoughts just from being here.

What’s worse is not feeling very well prepared yet for the talk to Windhorse Trading at their main warehouse on Friday morning. So will be very ready to relax with Padmasuri on Friday lunchtime when she is giving me lunch and taking me to an afternoon concert.

After that only (only!) the last get-together of the Urbanite retreatants on Friday evening and a then women’s day In Praise of Tara on Saturday. And I’ve been invited to a party on Saturday night …
